Stand-Up to the Climate Crisis: Learn about the issues and easy steps you can take to make a difference and have an impact
We will meet at the South Valleys Library (15650A Wedge Parkway) on Monday October 23rd for a presentation and conversation with members of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL).
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-partisan, non-profit, international organization focused on climate change solutions. The grassroots advocacy organization empowers people to experience breakthroughs exercising their personal and political power. There are 420 chapters nationwide and an additional 150 chapters outside the U.S. There are three chapters in Nevada, and the local group includes volunteers from Reno, Sparks, and surrounding areas who demand action on climate change from our members of Congress.
We will be joined by Betsy Fadali, the founder of the Reno-Sparks Citizens’ Climate Lobby chapter. The Reno native has a PhD in Resource Economics from UNR and has recently retired from her position as economist at the State of Nevada Housing Division. Several CCL members will accompany Ms. Fadali and will share information about the legislation they are working to pass. They will also offer suggestions to facilitate having constructive conversations about climate issues across party lines, as well as some easy activities we all can do to combat climate change.
Join us at 5:30 p.m. on October 23 for social time and fall-themed refreshments. The meeting portion of our program will begin at 6 p.m. In honor of Nevada Day, show your state pride by wearing state colors – Silver and Blue – to the meeting. The Nevadan decked out with the most state pride will win a prize!
