The South Washoe Dems and WashoeDEMS are jointly hosting our first special meeting featuring Washoe County School Board and Reno City Council candidates. The meeting will be hybrid: in-person at WashoeDEMS headquarters or virtually via Zoom. Right wing extremists are plotting to take over our local electing governing boards, not in November, but in the primaries! Their strategy is to take the top two places in our non-partisan races, rendering their takeover inevitable as voters would have no other options in November. We cannot risk succumbing to their strategy. The primary election in June is just as, if not more, important than the election in November, for our community. The candidates featured at the meeting will be Trustee Joe Rodriguez, Trustee Beth Smith, Trustee Adam Mayberry, City Councilperson Naomi Duerr, and City Council Candidate Meghan Ebert.
Please join us either at the WashoeDEMS Headquarters or online through Zoom, at 6:30. There will be a social from 6:00 to 6:30 in-person with food and drinks. After the social, you’ll be able to learn about the importance of this upcoming primary and why these local races are incredibly significant now more than ever. This will be the first in-person meeting for both the South Washoe Dems and the WashoeDEMS – and we can think of no more pressing topic than the threat our school board and city council face to dedicate this meeting toward.
